A Celebration of Colour, Happiness & Joy in Art

Mary has always had an interest in Art and Design. She has a diploma in Interior Design, but she has found in recent years her real passion is in painting abstract paintings, mainly in oils and watercolours. She moves between Abstract Expressionism and Abstract Impressionism, but always with a love of vibrant colour. Her paintings are mainly Abstract Seascapes which are influenced by photographs she takes on her walks in Malahide and other coastal areas but she puts her own imaginative spin on them.

She also has a love of Abstract Expressionism, and these paintings are very emotive and are probably representative of her emotions on that day. She feels the beauty of Abstract Expressionism is all about freedom for both the artist and the viewer, and its roots are in ‘intuition’ of the artist. She has studied the psychology of colour and is a great believer in how our lives can be enhanced by colour and she is first and foremost a colourist.

Mary has a diploma in Fine and Decorative Arts and several certificates in the History of Art from the I.P.A.V. in Baggot St. She keeps up with current trends by visiting galleries at home and abroad. She is very passionate about all aspects of art, whether it's history or painting. She has also volunteered in The National Gallery of Art and hopes to return in the future. Mary has exhibited in recent years in the R.D.S. at the Horse Show, Art Source , The Ideal Homes and House Interiors. Her paintings can be viewed at The View , Malahide Marina, Co. Dublin,  by appointment only. She also exhibits in Merrion Square on Sundays. ( weather permitting ) Pitch nos 36/37 West side.
